About the Author

Focused on Understanding

The author of this book is a Registered Psychologist who has worked with Couples, Individuals (both men and women) heterosexual as well as LGBTQ including children and adolescents.

Phoenix began her career with a passion for working with adolescents specifically in the field of addictions.

Her work in her graduate program focused on the relationship between media (at that time TV, and print ads), and adolescent alcohol consumption. Even today Phoenix is passionate about media literacy both with children and adults and integrates teaching about media consumption into group therapy offered in her private practice.

Over the course of several years, she became interested in the dynamics of relationships as they played out for young adults.

Professionally, Phoenix had firsthand experience helping individuals navigate these emerging relationships with new technology and a changing electronic means to achieve introductions into new courtships.

Additionally, Phoenix experimented herself with online dating in the early 2000’s and again a decade later. Currently, while happily married, Phoenix continues to focus on work with couples both in the area of divorce avoidance and rebuilding after infidelity.

Phoenix’s experience both professionally and personally speaks to her expertise in this area. She has a proven track recorded in being passionate about how media shapes people’s lives and this book is a culmination of that passion.
